Bihar Agricultural University

Bihar Agricultural University is an autonomous institute under Bihar state government established in 2010 under Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) situated at Sabour, Bhagalpur district of Bihar. Historically, Bihar State is endowed with soil and water resources as well as climatic amplitudes having vast potential of agricultural production of varied nature. The university’s area of operation will comprise 25 districts of Bihar, namely Araria, Arwal, Aurangabad, Banka, Bhabhua, Bhagalpur, Bhojpur, Buxar, Gaya, Jamui, Jehanabad, Katihar, Kishanganj, Khagaria, Lakhisarai, Madhepura, Munger, Nalanda, Nawada, Patna, Purnia, Rohtas, Saharsa, Sheikhpura, Khagaria and Supaul districts. It is to cater to the specific needs of this potential grain bowl of the state. The headquarters would be located at present Bihar Agricultural College, Sabour Campus, the oldest and agricultural college of the state, engaged in imparting education, conducting researches on farmer’s problems and transfer of technology under its extension mandate.

Bihar School of Yoga

The Bihar School of Yoga is an internationally acclaimed school of Yoga founded by Swami Satyananda Saraswati in 1964 to fulfill the instruction given by his Guru, Sri Swami Sivananda of propagating the ancient wisdom of yoga from door to door and from shore to shore. Situated on the banks of the Ganges, the campus of Bihar School of Yoga is known as Ganga Darshan, located at the top of hillock in the town of Munger in the Indian state of Bihar. Bihar School of Yoga imparts traditional yoga teachings to householders and sannyasins alike from across the globe.4

The yoga taught at Bihar School of Yoga is known as Satyananda Yoga or Bihar Yoga and is an integral system which addresses the qualities of head, heart and hands – intellect, emotion and action – and attempts to integrate the physical, psychological and spiritual dimensions of yoga into each practice. Satyananda Yoga is suitable for everyone, regardless of age, gender, nationality, religion, mental condition or level of fitness. It is a holistic system which addresses all aspects of human life in the spheres of physical health, mental well-being, emotional behaviour and work environment. Academic courses in yoga, such as the 4 month course in Yogic Studies and Diploma in Yogic Studies are conducted by Bihar Yoga Bharati.
